When You're God's Favorite

Let me just start off by saying right here and now...

YOU ARE GOD'S FAVORITE!

Ever heard that before? Well it's true. YOU are His favorite.

Look what He does for Daniel and I'll tell you what it has to do with you. I'm going to take you on a bit of a journey with Daniel.

We'll be making some short stop that will all lead to the same thing.

Go back to Daniel 1:9. Here, I'll just type it: "Now God had caused the official to show favor and sympathy to Daniel."

1:19 "...so they (Daniel and his buddies) entered the King's service."

2:48 "Then the king placed Daniel in a high position and lavished many gifts on him. he made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and placed him in charge of its wise men."

Skipping ahead juuust a bit

5:29 "Then at Belshazzar's command, Daniel was clothed in purple, a gold chain was placed around his neck and he was proclaimed the third highest ruler in the kingdom."

Favor
Position
Power
Influence

All these were given to a captive in a hostile nation. All of this was given to a man who went after God, who stood for what was right, and who did not apologize for what he believed. I think now-a-days we call that someone sold out.

What does that mean for us?

Just this:
Having a heart for God will be shown in a life positioned by God and used by God.

Not all of us will rule countries for cryin' out loud, but God's favor is always in sync with His purposes. And His favor is manifested differently to each of us; never random or without intent.

You have a calling on your life. Daniel's was to rise as a captive and serve a nation bringing glory to God through politics.

My calling looks A LOT different. I'm sitting in my kitchen fulfilling it right now. As I type. As I give chocolate chip cookies to my kids. As I ignore my crying baby (wait).

The favor of God is displayed in my life by the position He has entrusted me to. What's your position? What's your calling? How can you point to God's favor in your life.

You are His favorite, you know. Enjoy it and live it well!

This may sound so weird.. but I know God has wanted me to be a mom. And I also know he wants me to WRITE. And I know I am a quiet witness and leader for God in the wild sport/industry of barrel racing. I really believe that my contact with so many people outside of the church walls is my mission.

Twenty-one years ago, God placed the most understanding, accepting, and very spiritual, non-judgmental, forgiving man in my life when I needed him. He became my husband.

Goodness, I am rambling. I hope some of this made sense to you.
